INSIDE THE GARBAGE DUMP OF MAE SOT

Many Burmese refugee families live in the city dump and make their living off of the waste they can sell on the black market. There are many children that live here and are often visited by Ashin Sopaka, a famous Burmese monk that had been exiled to Germany in 2003, and has since carried out many marches for peace all around the world. He has come to Mae Sot to work with the poorest people and with those that have been exiled. One of his biggest missions is to give a new life to migrant families that live in the town’s garbage dump. Day after day with the help of "The Best Friend" association, he attempts to improve and change the lives of these children of the landfill.
